List Of Chief Minister of Puducherry [1963-2026]: The Union Territory of Puducherry, which comprises the former French establishments of Pudicherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam, lies in South India. Puducherry, the capital of the territory, was once the original headquarters of the French in India, and it was de facto transferred to India on 1 November 1954, and the de jure transfer took place on 16 August 1962. However, it was the enactment of the Government of Union Territories Act on 10 May 1963, coming into force on 1 July 1963, that formally introduced elected governance with a legislative assembly and a chief minister.

The 2026 Puducherry Legislative Assembly elections were held on 9 April 2026, and results were declared on 4 May 2026. Rangaswamy’s AINRC-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), in alliance with the BJP, AIADMK, and the newly formed Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi (LJK), secured 18 seats in the 30-member House, comfortably crossing the majority mark of 16.
