June 25

The banks will be closed in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on June 25, for Moharrum. This is one day prior to the main Muharram holiday.

June 26

June 26 is the most widely observed bank holiday in June 2026. Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is one of the holiest months for Muslims. 

Ashoora is the 10th day of Muharram. Muslims on this day remember the death of Hazrat Imam Hussain who was the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. This day is observed in sad and respectful manner. June 26 is a day on which banks are closed in 18 Indian cities.

Remna Ni is a holiday only for Aizawl in Mizoram. In the Mizo language, Remna Ni means Peace Day. This day marks the signing of a peace agreement in 1986 between the Government of India and a group called the Mizo National Front.

Before this agreement, there was a long period of conflict in Mizoram. The peace deal brought that conflict to an end and is remembered as a very important day for the people of Mizoram.
